The HeartVets cardiologists are supported by a fantastic team of experienced RVNs who co-ordinate and assist with the clinical service and interventions, manage the online diagnostics service and provide excellent support for clients and referring vets alike. 

 

Cardiology clinician, based in South Wales (Cardiff area)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and  motivated vet to primarily see clinical cardiology referral cases alongside Dave Dickson in South Wales. The successful applicant will also be involved with our online diagnostics service and our cardiac interventional surgery programme. 

We are looking for someone who already holds post-graduate cardiology qualifications (ACVIM/ECVIM or RCVS Diploma, RCVS Certificate, ESAVS Certificate or Masters, or equivalent). An exceptional candidate who shows enthusiasm and initiative and is working towards further qualifications would also be considered. The successful applicant will be in a position to work amongst Specialists with a great deal of experience, expertise and empathy for their patients and clients, and help us to expand our first-class referral service.

Veterinary Nurse/ Administrator vacancies

1. Job title: veterinary nurse administrative role (home-based)

Start date: May 2021

Salary: commensurate with experience

Description: We are looking for an experienced nurse to join our referral administration team. This would be a largely desk-based administrative position, although there may be some involvement in clinics assisting with cardiology referral patients if the applicant so wished.  The role would suit someone with experience of nursing in general or referral practice, a qualified RVN would be desirable but not essential. Alternatively, somebody with extensive veterinary administrative experience, including a good working clinical knowledge, would be considered. 

The role is primarily based from home, ideally 4 days per week (but part-time considered) and encompasses the following:

• Referral reception – speaking to owners, booking in appointments, liaising with host clinics, and providing phone triage for cases.

• Insurance claim work – submitting pre-authorisations, chasing claims.

• Diagnostics service cover – helping with administration of our online Holter and ECG service (training provided)

A good knowledge of common software (e.g., Microsoft Word/ Excel) is essential. We use a dedicated practice management software (Animana) for which training will be provided. Work equipment (laptop, phone) will be provided as needed.

2. Job title: veterinary nurse for in-clinic nurse role and HeartVets Diagnostics co-ordinator (office-based in Heavitree, Exeter)

Start date: May 2021

Salary: commensurate with experience

Description: We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to run our diagnostic cardiology service, primarily overseeing and administering our Holter and ECG service. The role will be based at our office within City Vets in Heavitree, Exeter, which is also the main base for referral cardiology clinics within the south west. The successful applicant will also assist our cardiologists with referral clinics at City Vets, with some travel to other clinics around the south-west if needed. 

This role would suit someone with experience of nursing in general or referral practice, a qualified RVN would be desirable but not essential. Good IT and organisational skills are essential, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Training will be provided on usage of our specific practice management system and database software. 

Ideally this is a full-time position but part-time may also be considered for the right candidate, and flexible working patterns are supported where possible. All necessary training and equipment will be provided.
